James Madison University (JMU) is a public research university located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. With a stunning campus and a population of enthusiastic students proudly donning their royal purple, JMU is rich with opportunities. I have had many friends and family members attend here and actually thought about attending as an undergrad. Walking around campus, there is a great sense of community. This is a vibrant and inspiring campus for students, with a scenic location near the mountains.

  • JMU was founded in 1908 as the State Normal and Industrial School for Women, with a focus on preparing students to be teachers.

  • In 1938, the school's name was changed to Madison College in honor of President James Madison.
